This week's best AI tools: 8 launches worth a look
Each week we pick the AI tools that actually shipped and that a normal person or small business could use, then tell you plainly what they do, what they cost and who should skip them. Every link goes to the official page.
1. Gemini 4 Argon
Frontier modelby Google
Google's newest top model, launched Oct 13. It's built for long, hard tasks like big coding refactors, finance and legal work, with a 1M-token limit through the API.
Price and access: API at an introductory $2 / $10 per million input/output tokens until Nov 30, then $4 / $20. In the Gemini app it needs a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription.
Our take: Developers and teams doing heavy analysis. Casual users probably will not notice a difference on simple chats.
2. Claude Haiku 5.5
Small, cheap modelby Anthropic
Anthropic's fastest and cheapest model, released Oct 7. It's aimed at high-volume jobs: summaries, sorting and tagging, support chat and "helper" agents.
Price and access: $0.10 / $0.50 per million input/output tokens for prompts up to 100K tokens. Selectable on Claude.ai, including the free plan.
Our take: Anyone running lots of small AI tasks where cost adds up. Anthropic itself says bigger models remain better for complex coding.
3. Deep Review
Document checkerby Google Research
An AI reviewer for long documents (papers, design docs, legal and financial files) that checks logic, numbers and claims section by section. Public as of Oct 14.
Price and access: Two free document reviews per week. More with your own Gemini API key. PDF and plain text for now.
Our take: Useful second opinion before you send a proposal or contract draft. It does not replace a lawyer or accountant.
4. Comfy Agent
Image and video workflowsby Comfy
An assistant inside ComfyUI that builds, fixes and runs image and video generation workflows while you watch on the canvas. Generally available on Comfy Cloud.
Price and access: Free starter tokens for new users, then it uses Comfy Credits. Local (desktop) version is "coming soon". The product is labeled beta.
Our take: Creators who found ComfyUI powerful but intimidating.
5. Gumloop agent browser
Automationby Gumloop
Gives Gumloop agents a real browser so they can work on sites that have no API, filling forms and downloading files. You can watch live and replay every step.
Price and access: No separate browser charge. Billed as agent compute (5 credits per minute) plus model usage. Saved passwords are typed in by Gumloop, not shown to the agent.
Our take: Ops people automating boring portal work. Keep a human on purchases and logins, which is how it is designed.
6. Charming
Personal appsby Charming
Describe a small app to Claude, ChatGPT or another assistant (book swap, trip planner, shared tab) and Charming hosts it at a real link you can share like a doc.
Price and access: Free for personal apps (unlimited apps, 1 GB). Pro is $8/month for custom domains and more storage.
Our take: Families, clubs and small teams who want a simple custom tool without hiring a developer.
7. HyperFrames Studio
Video editingby HeyGen
A desktop video editor where an AI agent builds the video from your description, then you both edit the same timeline by typing, drawing or commenting on frames.
Price and access: Mac and Linux app. Needs a HeyGen account and a local agent (Claude Code or Codex). Check the agent costs on your side.
Our take: Marketers making short explainer or promo videos. Not for people who want a zero-setup web tool.
8. Aftersell Cart
E-commerceby Rokt Aftersell
An AI-built cart drawer for Shopify stores: describe or screenshot a cart and get one with upsells, free-shipping bars and add-ons. 18+ widgets.
Price and access: Paid Shopify app. Per Aftersell's docs, publishing carts needs its Complete plan (listed at $79.99/month with a 30-day trial).
Our take: Shopify stores trying to raise order value. Small stores should run the trial before committing.
How we pick
We only include tools that are live today (not waitlists), check each one on its official page, and note pricing and limits. Nobody paid to be in this list. Sponsored placements are always labeled "Sponsor".
